Jamie Cooke is a New York native happily transplanted to
Southeast Georgia for 17 years. In his early life, he graduated from
Huntington High School in 1984 and went on to graduate from Nassau
Community College with an AAS Degree in Marketing in 1987. After
graduation, Jamie was unsure of what he wanted to be when he grew up,
so he headed on down to Palm Beach, Florida for a break.
Palm Beach, Florida turned into Miami, Florida where Jamie
joined the Arthur Murray Dance Company and spent the next 13 years
teaching, performing and judging Ballroom and Latin dancing
professionally. He enjoyed being ranked in the top ten producing
teachers worldwide while advancing his career on the business side
managing a highly successful studio in Jacksonville, Florida. In 1999,
he retired from the dance industry and returned to his native New York.
Back in New York, Jamie joined a Wall Street firm in 2000 and
received his Series 7, 63, and 55 stock broker licenses. He worked as an
assistant trader of NASDAQ Securities for the next year and a half until
November of 2001. The firm, suffering from the repercussions of the
tragedies of September 11, 2001, laid off many of its employees, Jamie
being one of them. Whereas the learning experience of Wall Street was
a great one, he decided it was time to move away from the hustle and
bustle of Manhattan life.
Jamie returned south to Midway, Georgia. There, he got involved
in education through substitute teaching in the Liberty County School
System. With the impeccable reputation he was developing in the area,
he was quickly hired full time as a paraprofessional at Joseph Martin
Elementary. He attended classes at night and graduated with honors from
Brewton Parker College in December of 2004 with a BS degree in
Elementary Education. In January of 2005, Jamie started teaching
second grade at Frank Long Elementary and has been there since.
During his tenure at Frank Long, Jamie additionally earned a Master of
Science degree in Education.
Jamie loves his Harley Davidson Motorcycles and rides them
every day. He loves to travel, enjoys fitness and many sporting
activities. His favorite being watching his son, Jade, hurl ‘em from the
mound on the diamond! He especially loves to cook for and spend
quality time with his favorite joy; his family!
Jamie is an outgoing personality that loves to be around friends
and new acquaintances alike. He is looking forward to his change in
careers while applying the skills he has learned through his life to the
real estate business, and assisting many new acquaintances in finding the
home of their dreams!
